The average Haitian walks through rugged terrain and shoes wear out quickly. Rocky paths with thorny vegetation make a good pair shoes an absolute necessity. Here Am I is a ministry that was started by Icy Mae Fredrick and Elise Cadet in 1988. Icy Mae spent over 30 years of her life working with the people of Haiti, mainly in the area east of Gonaives known as Petite Riviere de Bayonaise. The organization that she left behind supports the Holy Bible Church and School. The Christian school has 32 full and part-time teachers and an elementary and high school principal.  The school currently has programs that extend from kindergarten to the 12th grade, with a total enrollment of over 900 students and an annual budget of $70,000 for the elementary and high school.
