During the last two weeks of February the school at Souvenance was finished. Teams from Gardendale First Baptist finished the concrete floors in the building and porch and a team from Flint River Baptist Church in Madison Alabama built trusses and completed the roof. They also built pews and desks for the school. By the time both teams left the school was ready for the fall.
Plans are being made to try and raise the funds to drill a well for the school in Souvenance. After the well is drilled a small building will be built to house a water purification system that will insure the children will have clean drinking water.
Also, a new bathroom is being constructed on site.
Pastor Elise has a vision for a number of buildings on this piece of land at Souvenance that will eventually have room for more children and additional grades as the school and finances grow.
This area of Haiti is rural and most farm for a living using whatever tools they can acquire or make. We were able to place in the hands of many of the farmers in the area a pick, a hoe, a machete and a couple of pounds of carrots and beets. There were also gifts for the ladies of the churches with much needed supplies.
The Holy Bible Church was able to acquire a piece of farmland across from the church that the members will grow food to sell and to use as a ministry of the church. A dream less than a year ago, became a reality!
