Call to Prayer for Haiti

The past year has been a challenging time for Haiti.  A medical and construction team were able to serve in January 2019, but all trips since have been cancelled due to the US Level 3 Travel Advisory.  Despite this, in July 2019, Pastor Elise and members of the Holy Bible Church served a local home for disabled Haitians by providing food, medical care, and cleaning.  (Click here to see a moving video from this outreach.)  In November, during some of the most critical food and gas shortages the country has faced this decade, God made a way for the clinic to see over 175 sick people from the community.  Pastor Elise drove several hours to the Dominican Republic with an armed guard to purchase the medication and supplies.  God provided for this much needed medical care by an unexpected donation. There is a great need to add new classrooms at the school.  Due to high enrollment, the younger children attend in the morning, and the middle and high school students attend in the afternoon.  The school is currently open from 8am to 5pm which makes long days for the teachers.  Building more classrooms would allow the school to be open during regular school hours and the students to attend all day.  In addition to the school’s growth, Pastor Elise has also been able to add a literacy school for adults. In a normal year, three to four different teams would have visited throughout the year to serve in various capacities including encouraging the local church members.  Due to the travel restrictions, only one team has been able to visit since 2018.  Pastor Elise and the members of the Holy Bible Church covet your prayers, and they long for your support. We ask you to join us in praying for the civil unrest and danger to subside. Pray that teams will be allowed to travel to Haiti again to bring valuable medications, supplies, and encouragement. Pray for the wellbeing of Pastor Elise, the church members, and the school staff.
